Partnership Choir Evening
On 14th June, a selection of the Beccles Primary School choir participated in the Sir John Leman Partnership Schools Awards Evening. It was hosted at St Michael’s Church, Beccles and all of our neighbouring schools choirs, sung together for the invited audience. The number of children singing together was astonishing, all of them singing well and producing a beautiful collective tone. We always looked forward to this date in the calendar as it is an opportunity to sing in a unique space.
On the 21st June , a selection of the Year 5 choir set off for an important singing performance. We headed into Beccles to sing for the residents at The White House, Ashmans Road. Not all of the choir had sung to such a specific audience before but they soon realised what an experience was to be had. The residents were overjoyed that they sang a couple of known favourites ; Long Way to Tipperary sung beautifully by Marie, Lauren and Deseray. Zip-a-dee-doh-da and Supercalifragilistic were sung by all the choir. They even remembered the actions. We also sang some contemporary songs ; Rather Be, Count on Me, Sunshine, One in a Million, with the residents tapping along to the music. ‘They were delightful’ said Muriel, 84. The staff asked when the children could return for another performance, as it lifted everyones spirits. The choir were excited at the feeling created by their singing and they were happy to add The White House to their community performance visits booked in for the future.
