The smell of Chinese food filled the corridor as Emerald and Diamond class became immersed in learning about Chinese New Year. We learnt all about how it is celebrated and why they do certain things. For example, did you know that Chinese dragons dance in the streets to scare away the bad luck for the New Year to come? With this mind, we created our own dragons using pipe cleaners and beads. This took a great deal of concentration and some of us even challenged ourselves to create a repeating pattern with the beads we used!

Our learning did not stop there. We then went on to have our own Chinese feast just like Chinese families do at this time of year. We tried a large variety of different Chinese foods such as egg fried rice, prawn crackers, spring rolls, wontons and bean sprouts.

We were very brave and tried as many new and different foods as possible. We even discovered some brand new things we liked… and some things we didn’t enjoy quite as much! These foods were certainly not put to waste though as lots of members of staff volunteered to gobble up the left overs. We would like to thank the lovely people at Tesco Beccles Superstore as they kindly donated the Chinese food to our feast. Thank-you!
