On Thursday 8th October, the children from Reception to Year 6 walked up to St Luke’s for our annual Harvest celebration. The service was led by Lindsay Blankley, the Parish Children’s Worker, aided by several of our Year 6 pupils.
Years 4 and 5 made poetic contributions, including Harvest Haikus and Year 6 read prayers they had written themselves.
Mrs Ruddock led the music element of the service with her usual gusto and the school joined together to sing favourites including ‘Zip-a-dee-doo-dah’ and the Harvest Samba. Beccles Primary Choir sang a beautiful piece entitled ‘I am the Earth’, which they had learned for the Harvest of Talents concert. And, of course, ‘Cauliflowers fluffy’ rounded off the service in traditional style!
Many thanks to Lindsay and the team at St Luke’s for making us so welcome, to Mrs Ruddock for all her hard work with the music, to the teachers who worked with the readers to write and rehearse their readings, to the parents who supported us with walking to the church and, of course, to the children themselves for their contribution!
